Long before he became a master silversmith, my father, Carmel Shabi, was a young Air Force technician with a rare genius for aircraft construction. When a Judaica collector recently asked for a photo of him in his studio, it brought me back to a 1957 image that reveals how this early engineering precision laid the foundation for a lifetime of creating flawless, handcrafted masterpieces.
